Nice to Meet You

・ 2 min read ・ Author: OBARA Yachiko / OBARA Hiroki

Hello, everyone, and nice to meet you. We are OBARA Yachiko and OBARA Hiroki, Co-Directors of Polymath Research.
As we launch Polymath Research, we would like to briefly introduce who we are.

Nice to meet you, we are Polymath Research

What: What is Polymath Research?

Polymath Research is a non-profit organization that conducts developmental theory research focused on the polymathic potential of human beings, and works to put that theory into practice in society.

Why: Why are we doing this?

Through the work of Polymath Research, we want to create environments for children who want to know everything and want to try everything.

How: What exactly will we do?

Specifically, we are planning projects such as founding and running museums and founding and running an alternative school. We will share more details about these projects here on the Polymath Research blog.

Where: Where are we based?

We are based in Morioka, Iwate Prefecture, Japan.

Since when: When did we start?

We began operating as a voluntary (unincorporated) association on January 1, 2024.

The Urge to Comprehend Everything and Put Everything Together

To close, we would like to quote from one of our favorite books, Operating Manual for Spaceship Earth.

All universities have been progressively organized for ever finer specialization. Society assumes that specialization is natural, inevitable, and desirable. Yet in observing a little child, we find it is interested in everything and spontaneously apprehends, comprehends, and co-ordinates an ever expanding inventory of experience. Children are enthusiastic planetarium audiences. Nothing seems to be more prominent about human life than its wanting to understand all and put everything together.
